With one of their biggest rivals on their home turf, the Lancers fought hard, looking to come out on top. The Field Hockey team faced Saint Ignatius for the second time this season.
In the first quarter, the Lancers were in a more defensive position, with the ball mainly on their side of the field. Evie Ferrini '27 played a key role in both the midfield and defense, helping the Lancers maintain their strength. Though the opponents had quite a few shots, they couldn't get past the Lancer backfield.
Although the defense was dominating the game, in the second quarter, Saint Ignatius got off to a 0-1 lead. Main starter and offensive facilitator, Melanie Henderson '28 was ready to come back.
"I think just the more the game went on, I just kind of found that anger and just that want to win, especially once they scored," Henderson said.
In the second half of the game, the Lancers began their offensive game, and pushed the Wildcats to their side of the field. Senior Katie Tsiagkas was among the forwards who stepped up the game.
"After they scored on us, we got kind of down, but in this game we didn't let up. in the second half, we were in their defensive half a lot of the time, so I think mentally we are stronger," Tsiagkas said.
Even with the exceptional effort of the Lancers, the game ended in favor of Saint Ignatius, with a score of 0-1. The Lancers are ready to prepare to play the Wildcats for a third time this season during the CCS Championships.
