Mike Motil steps down as Head Boys Basketball Coach

Saint Francis High School would like to thank Mike Motil for his dedication to the Boys Basketball program. As a program leader and a model coach at Saint Francis within the West Catholic Athletic League, Mike Motil will step down as the varsity coach.

Director of Athletics Therren Wilburn reflected on Coach Motil stating, "Mo is a true grinder. He's passionate about the sport and has dedicated countless hours to film study and observation and has always been focused on student athlete development on and off the court."

Michael Pilawski, Vice Principal for Campus Life, echoed Wilburn's comment and says, "Coach Motil is an outstanding Holy Cross educator who worked so hard with the student athletes in the program on and off the court. The success of the teams he coached speaks for itself, but it's the work he put in off the court as a role model for the players that will truly be missed. Coach Motil does so much for our students that no one ever sees - academically and personally supporting them always. On behalf of our whole school community, I want to say THANK YOU to him and his family."

In thinking about his involvement with Lancer basketball, Mike Motil stated, "I am grateful for nearly 25 years of coaching basketball at Saint Francis High School. Our team's strong performance in a competitive league has certainly been rewarding. Having the chance to contribute to one of the most influential times in our students' lives has been the most important element of coaching for me. The relationships that have been fostered over the years are what I appreciate the most and I am very optimistic about the future of Saint Francis basketball. I know that this transition will be a good one for the next generation of Lancers."

While he's stepping down from his coaching role, Motil will remain part of the Saint Francis community and will continue to impact student lives as an educator in the classroom teaching math.

Saint Francis  will begin the search for the next head coach immediately. Interested applicants should apply here.
