BRENDON REUTEBUCH RETIRES AS HEAD GIRLS WATER POLO COACH
Â
(Mountain View, CA) – Saint Francis High School thanks Brendon Reutebuch for his
leadership and guidance of the Girls Water Polo program. Coach Reutebuch has devoted
the last 29 years to leading young women both on and off of the pool deck, 25 of them as
the Lancers head coach. In that time his teams won nine CCS Championships in 18 trips to
the finals and one NorCal Championship, all while establishing the Lancer program as o
of the most competitive in Northern California. He has seen countless players continue to
play at the collegiate level and was selected as 2009 high school water polo coach of the
year by the California Coach Association and was voted CCS Honor Coach for the 2010-11
season.
Â
Brendon Reutebuch is grateful for what the sport and his coaching journey have given him
— plenty of life lessons, friendships and pride in his teams, reflecting,."It has been an hon
to coach with and against so many committed people throughout my career. I have been
guided by the idea that we need to apply discipline and purpose to what we do, while
developing our strengths and talents, always maximizing our potential and helping and
respecting others. I have been blessed with athletes and team parents who understand the
importance of hard work, dedication and reaching for and working toward goals. I am truly
grateful for the last 25 years, guided by the Holy Cross principles and educational values at
Saint Francis! I am thankful for all that the sport of Water Polo has brought me along my
journey. From a young age, I have been blessed in aquatics with great support from my
mom and dad. Since those early days, I have continued to follow the sport and my passion
through college and into my career. Above all, I want to thank my loving, patient and
supportive wife Pat for her encouragement and understanding."
Interim Athletic Director, Matt Maguire, recognizes the influence that Coach Reutebu
has had on both the pool deck and in the classroom. "His record speaks for itself, but what
can not be measured is the impact he had on our polo players' lives. His leadership will be
missed, and we are all grateful for everything he has done," he says.
Â
Michael Pilawski, Vice Principal for Campus Life, praised Coach Reutebuch for his
dedication to forming our student-athletes and growing the water polo program. "Coach
Reutebuch worked tirelessly in our community to support our Lancers and families during
their time at Saint Francis and beyond. His connection and leadership in our athletic
program will be greatly missed. Thank you, Coach Reutebuch, for all your years of service
to Saint Francis High School, and congratulations on your retirement from coaching."
